Educational and Campus
University of Montana School of Education
This addition to the original 1949 business building located on the memorial grove in the center of the University of Montana Campus was initiated in 2006 and completed in 2009. The addition includes new classrooms and offices arranged around a central atrium for circulation, wayfinding, and study, as well as a next-generation preschool facility and playground.
Washington Grizzly Stadium at the University of Montana
At the base of Mt. Sentinel (The "M") Washington Grizzly stadium was an existing concrete building in drastic need of a seating expansion. The addition project, a cantelevered steel structure, provided 2000 new seats, a skybox clubhouse, and is surmounted by a large terrace taking in views of the surrounding campus and mountains.
University of Montana Memorial Grove Allee
A project in search of a donor. Part of the larger pursuit of the university master plan, this reconfiguration of the landscape will provide for an extension of the existing memorial grove of ponderosa pines, and improve the circulation and habitat conditions within the memorial grove itself.
Big Sky High School
Completed in 2003, the additions and renovations to Big Sky High School include a naturally day-lit library with a computer research lab, light-filled entry lobby, administration wing adjacent to the main entrance, counseling staff offices, and a student career center. Also renovated were auditorium and art wing, with large functional classrooms, an outdoor work area, and a kiln yard. Included elsewhere in the project are an auxiliary gym with locker rooms, support spaces, and two classrooms.
Paxson School
This 2-story elementary school, completed in 1992, replaced an existing 1920's building. The building consists of 48,200 sq. ft. and includes 18 classrooms, Chapter 1 room, media center, project room, gymnasium, lunchroom, music room and all customary support spaces. The building is located in the University District and was designed to evoke remembrances of the original masonry building as well as being a state of the art educational facility.
