Residential
Fetscher Residence
Located adjacent to the Rattlesnake wilderness in an adult Larch forest this house features rusting steel shingles, highly detailed concrete, and a woodworker's dream of interior finishes. The minimalism of the modern detailing allows the innate richness of the materials to come to the fore. The result is a peaceful house high above town, a world complete unto itself.
Nazelrod Residence
Adjacent to Pattee Canyon, the house looks out over the missoula valley, and takes in the western sunset. Steel inset in wood details run throughout the house, in an update to the classic heavy timber construction. A masonry base ties the house to the rocky site.
Klein House
While not particularly 'klein', the house is set carefully into its hillside site high above Missoula. Using conventional materials and methods to good effect, this house is a demonstration of how an architect can refine and expand upon the typical developer house.
Nave Cabin
This small house is a reverse of the usual in contemporary architecture: classic detailing juxtaposed with a modern plan. Featured in the summer 2000 issue of Montana Living, the cabin takes a layered approach to living in the woods, creating spaces on a gradient between inside and out.
