About the Project
The Boone & Crocket Club relocated their national headquarters to Missoula in 1993 where their administrative offices, Club Library, and shipping/receiving department are housed in the historic Old Milwaukee Depot. The building was originally constructed in 1910 for the old Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway Company and is on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places. With its distinctive double towers and Spanish tile roof, it is a notable landmark, visible from downtown and major traffic and pedestrian corridors. The project was completed in three phases: first the Depot building was remodeled to accommodate the administrative offices and library, then the one-story Baggage building was remodeled to incorporate updated and accessible restrooms and the Club’s shipping and receiving facility. Finally, the connection between the two was redeveloped into a lobby and gallery space. This connection was originally the Depot’s waiting and ticketing area, and while the space was completely remodeled, it retains much of its former character. The project was awarded the 2008 Missoula Historic Preservation Award for Excellence as a Compatible Addition in Commercial Renovation and Rehabilitation.
