About the Project

Community Cancer Care at Community Medical Center is situated on an idyllic site on the edge of campus, adjacent to Fort Missoula Regional Park. The building conveys through form, materials, and landscaping, a welcoming state-of-the art oncology center. The patient and family are welcomed to the building and protected by a large porte-cochere. A focal point upon entering the light-filled lobby is a large linear fireplace clad with cherry hardwood paneling. A warm balance of organic materials, colors, textures and furnishings help to create a calm and reassuring environment. The building’s layout is focused on patient centered care that encompasses education, collaboration, intuitive way-finding and privacy. In order to minimize patient travel the oncology clinic, infusion suite and radiation oncology areas are located in separate wings adjacent to the lobby, allowing a patient to enter these services without traveling through the other. Convenient blood-draw and lab spaces are discreetly located near the lobby. Private and social infusion bays are designed to allow patients the opportunity for solitude or interaction depending upon their specific desire. Patient, families and staff are surrounded by and connected to nature via views and healing gardens.
