The Iron Horse began with a small staff in a neighboring train depot. When it came time for expansion into a new location, OZ Architects was there to help bring the owner’s vision to reality.

OZ Architects is proud to have been part of the redevelopment of the north end of downtown Missoula by designing one of Missoula’s most beloved brew pubs. The Iron Horse began with a small staff in a neighboring train depot. When it came time for expansion into a new location, OZ Architects was there to help bring the owner’s vision to reality.
Durable yet beautiful materials were utilized in this building and have stood the test of time. Solid masonry walls juxtapose against sawtooth expanses of glass which let in daylight during the day, and engage those who are passing by with the fun and vitality going on inside. Comfortable sidewalk dining areas are tucked beneath the timbered roofline in front, and inside patrons enjoy food and drink on two levels.
In the years since, OZ Architects has had the honor of helping this small business grow. We’ve designed multiple additions to the building including patio space, a roof deck, kitchen expansion and private event space.
