About the Project

Emergency Department
The new Emergency Department provides patients a warm, comforting, and private atmosphere. Interior daylighting is a key design feature that allows patients and staff to connect with the outside while reducing energy demands. Masonry materials are used on the exterior to provide a durable and maintenance free building shell.

Surgery Department Remodel
This project is phase six of a multi-year master plan to upgrade Hamilton’s hospital to continue to provide state-of-the-art Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery to the Bitterroot Valley. Four new 600 square foot Operating Rooms, 5 bed PACU, 14 bed Pre/Post-operative rooms for outpatients, surgery locker room and an expanded Decontamination and Sterile cleaning room. The flow of the patients, staff, physicians and materials have been carefully evaluated to provide optimum patient and staff experiences and reduce patient infections. The project includes a 2,200 square foot C-Section Operating Suite adjacent to the existing Birthing Center.

Intensive Care Unit
The new ICU at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital consists of five private patient rooms with private bathrooms, including a bariatric room and an ICU isolation room. The design philosophy was to provide maximum daylight and exterior views for patients, privacy for families and patients, and optimum flow and function for staff and physicians. An expansive main nurse’s station oversees all of the patient rooms and is flooded with natural light from a long bank of high clerestory windows. Adjacent to the ICU Patient Space is a large family waiting room with glass dividers for privacy between families and a private family consulting room.

Rehabilitation Center
This facility brings state-of-the-art Adult and Child Physical Rehabilitation to the Bitterroot Valley. Key features include a new Rehabilitation Pool with a rising/lowering floor and a Therapy Gym with panoramic views of the Bitterroot Range. Sun control awnings are used on the exterior to help reduce heat gain and to control glare from direct sunlight.
